ABOUT ME

Brett Smith

The Song Smith is me, Brett Smith.

I am a musician, singer, song writer and teacher.

Whether you’re looking to learn to play guitar or ukulele, join a ukulele group, looking for a wedding singer, or for a bespoke song written for your special occasion, I can help.

I hope you enjoy browsing my website and that you’ll take some time to listen to what I do. You’ll find lots of recordings of songs from my live set and also original songs I have been commissioned to write for a variety of occasions.

The website is updated regularly so check back here from time to time to hear what I’ve been doing. You can also follow me and get in touch via Twitter and Facebook.

Guitar, Ukulele and Bass Lessons

If you fancy  learning to play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass or ukulele, you’ve come to the right place.

At the moment, all lessons take place online via Zoom.

Learn as part of a group

Tickhill Ukulele Group

Started in 2014, the group is made up of up to 50 players of all ages and abilities. We meet weekly at Tickhill Parish Room and are always happy to welcome new members.

We have a huge repertoire of songs – there’s something to suit everyone.

Althorpe Guitar & Ukulele Group

Meeting weekly, this is a growing set of groups for beginner and more advanced ukulele players and for guitarists.

Live Music for Weddings & Events

I perform live at weddings. parties and corporate events.

My live set features just me and my guitar (and sometimes a ukelele too). Unlike many performers these days, I don’t use any backing tracks so everything you hear is me.

Songwriting

A bespoke song for any occasion

There are many reasons to commission a song – a gift, a celebration of a special event or even that you might just fancy having a song written about you!

You choose the style, tell me about what ot who you’d like the song to be about and I’ll do the rest.

Theo Paphitis & Small Business Sunday (#SBS)

Small Business Sunday, shortened to the hashtag #SBS on Twitter, was created by Theo Paphitis in October 2010. Theo is best known for appearing on Dragons Den on BBC Two. He is Chairman of Ryman Stationery plus Boux Avenue lingerie and Robert Dyas, as well as joint owner of Red Letter Days.

Each week Theo rewards small businesses that tweet him @TheoPaphitis and describe their business in one tweet including the all-important hashtag #SBS. Only tweets made in the time slot between 5.00 PM and 7.30 PM each Sunday count.

Each week Theo reviews and chooses his favourite lucky six who are then re-tweeted. As he has over 400,000 followers, this provides a massive boost to the chosen lucky businesses.

The SongSmith was lucky enough to be chosen for a retweet in April 2013.

On 28th November 2013 I was invited to meet Theo to accept my SBS certificate.
